My heart goes out to the Parents of Gabriel, what a tragedy,
This game has been around for a long time...When I was in Elementary school (15-20 years ago) kids used to grab their neck with both hands, like a butterfly, around their neck and wait to pass out. I tried it one time, but never felt the effects because I was too scared and stopped. I'm so sad for your family. Take care of yourselves. I'm sending good thoughts and prayers your way. Thanks for the awareness.
I am extremely sorry for your lose. I too have experimented with that game when i was about 10-12 years old, when a cousin of mine from Las Vegas came on her yearly summer visits. She showed me this game that all her and her friends played back home. I remember how cool i thought it was and started to show friends and siblings about this game. I did it with numerous people and thank god no one was ever hurt. I really now regret ever playing this stupid game that could of possibly cost the life of someone special to me. I hope the more media exposure goes out, so that many parents and children can get a better education on this ridiculous game and show the possbile consequences. May Gabriel rest in peace.
I played this game in the arly 70's. You would hyperventilate approximately 30 times, hold your breath and some one from behind would lift you up and squeeze you until you pass out. If you think about it now, it was pretty silly thing to be doing.
To the family of Gabe:
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I cant even express to you how sorry I am. I have 2 children ages 5 and 11. I have had the talk with them. I too played this game when I was 13.I am 28yrs now. I cant believe there isnt any information about this out there.
Hey sam and Sarah I just wanted to tell you that I am happy to be able to have met gabe and that he will always stay in my heart. Hey Sam happy b-day sorry I didn't call hope you enjoy being fourteen so what happened about stalking me? lol just messing around well sara and sam enjoy life as it comes don't skip ahead and sam e-mail me or call me and I will call back if you ever want to talk ask steven for my number.
My heart and prayers go to you and your family. I'm a single mother of three, girl 13, girl 11, and boy 9. I too used to play this stupid game, stopped when my mom caught me and a friend with socks around our necks. We were lucky, a couple of my friends weren't and were left with damages to their brains. I just found out tonight that my oldest daughters friends are playing this game, although she denies playing it I'm worried that she is (shes come home with red eyes, extremely hyper, and has been showing her younger sister how to tie knots around her neck) I'm worried about this 'game.' I'm glad I found your site and I will be showing my kids tomorrow. I know my daughter will be upset with me but I agree with your comment about the school's also teaching them to keep breathing. This is NOT a 'game' and should not be played as one.
I was the one who forgot to put my name and e-mail address. (Just found out about oldest daughters friends) If you have any suggestions on web sites or anything else that could help in letting these children know the consequences of this 'game' Please e-mail. Thank-you and god bless again.
Hi Sara. I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved son, Gabe. I want to thank you for so bravely sharing what has happend to you and your family.
Dear Mrs. Mordecai,
I first heard of this game three months ago when my 15 year old daughter lost her best friend and english partner from this dangerous game. She has not been the same since. She asked me if they were so close why didn't she know what he was doing. They did thier homework togeather just hours before his death. The last words she said to him were "I LOVE YOU AND I"LL SEE YOU TOMORROW." |
